Oh My! Time Flies!

We have been so busy for the last few months that the updates have been nonexistent. Raene finished kindergarten a few weeks ago. We are so proud of her! She ended the year as one of the best readers in her class and with a writers award. She also made great improvements with her math skills and she can't wait to start first grade this fall. Hard to believe in just a few short months my baby will 6 years old and in first grade!

(Raene's last day of school)

Ruby starts preschool in the fall. I'm constantly blown away by how much information that kid soaks up. She can recognize all of her numbers up to 100! And we did NOT teach her that (at least, not on purpose). I took her into the eye doctor a few months ago for her routine check up and I got some good news. The muscle problem she was having with her eyes, is gone. However, she still can't focus properly. What this means is that she will need glasses (most likely) until she is at least 12. It is possible that she will need them her whole life but she will not need surgery :) There is the slim chance that her muscle problem will return or that she may end up needing bifocals to help her focus but we are trying to focus on the positive and there's only a small chance that either of those things would happen.

The girls tend to fight a lot because of how different their personalities are but lately they seem to really be enjoying eachother as well. I love watching them play board games together or when Raene reads Ruby some books. They are so cute. Raene has started taking on the role of "big sister" much more. She's always trying to "teach" Ruby something new. Of course, Ruby usually ignores her or argues with her just because she can but it's still fun to watch (most of the time).

My best friend, Aly (Amber) got married a few weeks ago. It was very exciting to be a part of her wedding. We each played a role. I was the Matron of Honor. Raene and Ruby were the flower girls and Neil played guitar as guest were seated and were exiting. I also made Aly's wedding cake! The ceremony was beautiful and we are so happy for her and her new husband Matt.(Bridesmaids with the bride!)

(two of the most adorable flower girls EVER!)

Our Vegetable Garden is coming along very nicely. We have planted 3/4 of what we were planning to so far. We started everything from seed, which we have done with our smaller gardens in years past so we are hoping everything comes in well. So far (from left to right) we have planted Jalepenos, Broccoli, Turnips, Radishes, Peas, Carrots, Cuccumbers, Green/Red Peppers, Lettuce, more Peas, Tomatoes, Green Beans, Spinach, Cabbage, Onion, and Wax Beans. I also have Basil, Parsley and Cilanto on my deck in pots. We still have to tear out a little more grass and plant the Cayenne Peppers, Squash (3 varieties including Zuccini), pumpkin, cantelope, and possibly watermelon if we have room. Those might go in our old garden area. Hopefull all of those will be done and planted by the end of next week at the latest. I think I'll be able to have it done on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I was hoping to start the new job at the begining of next week but there was a delay in getting the new carpet laid so it could be as long as two weeks before I get to start now. I'm a little bummed because I can't wait to get started but it will work out :)

Our Friends, Dave and Jaime and their son Jack, plus our friend Dan have all moved from Arizona back to Michigan. We are very excited to be able to spend regular time with our good friends again and we finally got to meet Baby Jack. He is so adorable and just makes my heart melt. Dan is currently living with us (he lived here about 4 year ago as well) and we are very happy to have him around.

My birthday came and went at the begining of the month. I turned 28 this year. Neil took me out for a couple of drinks with some friends. It was a nice evening.

(at Billy's for my birthday - yes the camera setting makes me look on fire)

I'm sure there are some other events or more news I am forgetting. Hopefully now that the school year is done I will be able to keep up more with the blogs.
